The Mark Munson Memorial School of Rock Is a great Rock and Roll music program for students grades 5 -12. (Read Up on How We Got Started Here.) Students who attend the summer camp receive an incredible, in depth rock group experience. They learn how to form and perform in a rock band, developing confidence and self esteem. (Read a great testimonial!) Campers spend 3 days a week for 2 weeks, learning and rehearsing 2 classic rock and roll songs, learning their individual parts, then playing together with members with similar skill levels, improving their skills, and developing their bands identity(which the band members pick).
Our instructors are some of the Brainerd Lakes Areas best musicians with many years of experience. (See the instructor Bio section below.) These instructors go through the process of starting up a band, music selection, vocal training, and all the necessary skills in forming a rock band.
Classes run from 12-4 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for 2 weeks starting on 1 August 2017. The classes will be held at the Franklin Arts Center in Brainerd. The 2 week camp will lead up to a final concert on 10 August 2017 at the auditorium in the Franklin Arts Center. The final concert will be open to the public and feature all the bands from the camp and will include a band formed by the instructors to end the concert.
All students attending the School of Rock will receive a T-shirt, DVD of the final concert and a poster with all of the rock bands of the summer camp. Cost of the 2 weeks School of Rock summer camp will be around $200 and will be finalized when regisration opens with Brainerd Community Education.
Please note: Bands are assembled and instructors hired based on the number of paid registrations. Please see our policies for tuition payment and tuition cancellation information.
